Description
A collection of eight veterinary medical texts in twelve volumes, providing instructions for the care and treatment of Japanese military horses.
Background
The Otsubo Hon School was one of the most important schools in Japan for Bajutsu, the Japanese form of military equestrianism. It was an offshoot of the Otsubo School, founded by Chikara Sadayasu Saito (1657-1744) in the 18th century. The school not only taught riding skills and mounted sword-fighting, but also the care and upkeep of horses.
