Biographical / Historical
Flight Officer Roland W. Alderman, United States Army Air Force (4/16/1916 - 7/10/1996) served during and after the Second
World War. Born in Carroll County, Virginia, he was trained in Memphis, Tennessee and was eventually deployed to China with
the 1339th Army Air Force Base Unit. He served at Chengkung Air Base in China. Roland often referred to himself as "Joe."
F/O Alderman spent most of his life in Galaxy, VA where he passed away in 1996.

Content Description
This collection contains correspondence from F/O Roland W. Alderman, USAAF to his brother, Clarence Alderman, and mother during
the Second World War. F/O Alderman would sometimes refer to himself as Joe and would sign his letters as Joe. The collectino
consists of one V-Mail to his mother, signed Roland, two postcards to Clarence, signed Joe, and one business card that reads
"Roland W. Alderman, Flight Officer, Army of the United States."
