parents. The author of the letter, Frederick Isely, was born in 1831 in Ohio. Their last name is also spelled "Eisele." By
1875, both brothers were living with their families in Walnut, Kansas. Henry's widow, Sophia, collected a war pension in 1908.
Frederick, married to Pauline Geiger (also spelled "Giger"), died in 1916.
