    Abstract: This collection contains the papers of American songwriter and lyricist Mack David (1912-1993). Materials include approximately 550 pieces of sheet music dating from 1924; screenplays and miscellaneous material including budgets, correspondence, contracts, and advertising brochures relating to several films. Along the screenplays are Invitation to a Gunfighter (1964), Guess Who's Coming to Dinner (1967), and Krakatoa--East of Java (1969). Also included are 14 reels of audio tape containing a variety of music and 2 audio tapes of David's autobiography in his own words.

    Biographical / Historical

    Mack David (1912-1993) was an American lyricist and songwriter for film and television. He worked on the Disney films "Cinderella" (1950) and "Alice in Wonderland" (1951). He has over 200 credits, including music for The Bugs Bunny Show, Casper the Friendly Ghost, and Hawaiian Eye. His younger brother is American lyricist and songwriter Hal David.
