Biographical / Historical

Frank Stetz was born in Iron River, Michigan and served in the US Navy as Chief Boatswain’s Mate, retiring after twenty years as Warrant Officer. He later worked in the Graphic Arts department at North Island, NAS San Diego. The photos in this collection were taken by Navy photographers from North Island and saved by Mr. Stetz.

Physical Description: 1. Five photographs: USS Ranger, 1938; Space Shuttle; E-2 Hawkeye; and two S-2E Tracker. 2. Two photographs of F-4J Phantom II, “Spirit of ’76.” 3. One photograph of F-14 Tomcat; four photographs of F-4B Phantom. 4. Seven photographs of USS Enterprise flight deck, April 1, 1981. 5. Four photographs of S-3A Viking on USS Enterprise. 6. Three photographs of helicopters: SH-2 Seasprite; CH-46 Chinook; and SH-3 Sea King. 7. Twelve photographs: ten of Apollo 17 recovery; one of Skylab; one of Apollo 16 astronauts at recovery. 8. Twenty-two photographs of World War II Confederate Air Force planes on display at North Island NAS.
