Abstract: Elliot Blackstone (1924-2006) was a sergeant in the San Francisco Police Department and was known as a longtime advocate for
the LGBTQ community in San Francisco. He was a pioneer of what was later known as “community policing” and worked within the
police department to change policies directed against the LGBTQ community. This collection includes Blackstone’s police uniform
that he wore as Grand Marshall of the San Francisco Pride Parade in 2006.
