Abstract: The boxes contain account books and ledger books for the Geary Store in Walnut Creek, and a property title search book relating
to a petition by the Geary family regarding a County roadway in 1933. C.W. Geary ran a store on Bonanza Street in Walnut
Creek in the late 1800s and early 1900s.

Scope and Content of Collection
Box 1
• Geary Store, Nov 1900-Dec 1901. Accounts book listing individual merchandise for each customer. Indexed.
Box 2
• Property title search book belonging to the Rowland family, related to a petition to the County by G.F. Geary and nine other
property owners asking the County to abandon an unnamed roadway in Reliez Valley (Contra Costa County) in 1933.
• Ledger book of an unnamed business, presumably the Geary Store, 1898-1900 (a set of initials on the opening page of the
book reads “C.W.G.”).

• Ledger book from the Geary Store, 1901-02. Many of the ledger pages also were used for extensive note-taking and writing
long after the book’s original use as a business ledger, judging from the more contemporary subjects mentioned in the writing
and notes.
