Scope and Content of Collection

This album was prepared for the Southern Pacific Company's Board of Director's inspection trip on Aug. 16, 1967. It chronicles the construction of the 78-mile line from Palmdale to Colton, California. Includes maps showing the route, photographs of surveying, grading the right-of-way, bridge building, and track laying. The album concludes with photographs of the dedication ceremony on July 11, 1967 and the first official train to pass over the new line, breaking through the banner. One page shows facts and figures about the new Palmdale-Colton line. [Album 105]
