Abstract: The Urban Archives General Oral
Histories Collection consists of various oral histories conducted or collected by the Urban
Archives that are not part of a larger project. Interviews focus on a number of subjects,
including public utilities, teachers' strikes, immigration, life in California, religious
conversion, the history of different neighborhoods in Los Angeles, and the personal
histories of interviewees.

Scope and Contents
The
Urban Archives General Oral Histories Collection consists
of various oral histories conducted or collected by the Urban Archives that are not part of
a larger project. Interviews focus on a number of subjects, including public utilities,
teachers' strikes, immigration, life in California, religious conversion, the history of
different neighborhoods in Los Angeles, and the personal histories of interviewees.
The collection is divided into two series,
Audio Recordings
(1967-2004) and
Transcripts (1974-2004). Series I,
Audio Recordings, is divided into three subseries based on the format
of the recording:
Digital Audio
(1988),
Reel-to-Reel Tapes (1968-1986), and
Audiocassettes (1967-2004).
