Description
This collection contains 10 scrapbooks created by Audrey Welstead Chisholm documenting her social life and tourism in San Francisco and abroad from the 1950s through the 1980s. Of note are photographs and ephemera documenting aspects of the French Hospital where she worked within scrapbooks 3-6.
Background
Audrey Welstead Chisholm was born in 1920 and raised in St. Catharines. She was a 1942 graduate of Hamilton School of Nursing and served in the Canadian Army Medical Corps in WWII. Audrey relocated to San Francisco in 1954 and was a founding member of the Canadian Women's Club SF Bay Area and a member of the Canadian Legion. She was also involved with the French Hospital and St. Mary's Medical Center. She died on December 27, 2006 in St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada at the age 86.

Restrictions
All requests for permission to publish or quote from manuscripts must be submitted in writing to the City Archivist. Permission for publication is given on behalf of the San Francisco Public Library as the owner of the physical items.
Availability
The collection is available for use during San Francisco History Center hours, with photographs available during Photo Desk hours. Collections that are stored offsite should be requested 48 hours in advance.
