This collection contains production files for the film and television projects of American screenwriter, producer, and director
Andrew L. Stone (1902-1999), for thirty-six projects dating from 1926 to 1972. The files chiefly include scripts, cast and
staff sheets, budgets, music, production stills, notes, reviews, research and source materials, and publicity related ephemera.
Background
Andrew L. Stone (1902-1999) was an American film director, producer, and writer who created more than thirty films from the
1920s to the 1970s. His first film was a short silent picture, The Elegy (1926). He had contracts with various film studios including Paramount, United Artists, and MGM. In 1943, he formed Andrew
L. Stone Productions. He was married to film editor Virginia Stone, with whom he collaborated.
