Description
The Carlos A. Call photograph collection, circa 1900-1930, (SAFR 24842, P74-012L) is comprised mainly of photographs of steam schooners at Fort Ross and other Sonoma Country, California, lumber ports. The collection has been processed to the Collection level and is open for use.
Background
Carlos Asa Call was born in Fort Ross, California, on June 2, 1880, to George Washington Call (1829-1907) and Mercedes Leiva (1850-1933). He had two brothers and six sisters. George Washington Call purchased the land at Fort Ross in 1873 and established Call Ranch. Carlos lived on the ranch until his death on December 20, 1972. The land is now part of the Fort Ross State Historic Park.
