This collection contains the research files, bibliographic records, publications, exhibit proposals, and various committee
and organization materials of Chicano Movement scholar and activist Dr. Antonio Ríos-Bustamante.
Materials in this collection cover Dr. Ríos-Bustamante's activities and studies of the earliest phases of the Chicano Movement
in the 1960s as well as reflect his role in the development of Chicano/Latino public history programs, historical exhibits,
research, and public policy advocacy.
Ríos-Bustamante's museum exhibit records include: "The Latino Olympians Program", "Immigration Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow",
and "The Social and Cultural History of the Los Angeles Mexican Community, 1781-present".
Dr. Antonio Ríos-Bustamante is a leading scholar and activist in the Chicano movement through his ongoing involvement with
many Chicano organizations such as La Raza Unida Party, the Chicano Moratorium, CASA, the Chicano Immigration Movement, and
the Chicano Public History Movement. Dr. Ríos-Bustamante is a Professor of Chicano Studies at California State University
Stanislaus, and author of many books on Chicano and Latino history. He has also taught at the University of California, Santa
Barbara, the University of Arizona, and the University of Wyoming.
The documentaries produced and directed by Ríos-Bustamante include
Images of Mexican Los Angeles 1781-present,
Latino Hollywood 1911-1950s, and
Latino Hollywood 1950s-present.
