Scope and Content Note
Items 06-17. Contains photographs of the First Annual McCovey Cove Regatta, an event sponsored by the San Francisco Giants
baseball team and organized by the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park's (SAFR) Small Craft Department and the
San Francisco Maritime National Park Association. Only traditional small craft were invited. The event took place in McCovey
Cove, the unofficial name of the cove beyond the right field of the San Francisco Giants' ballpark, named after former player
Willie McCovey. The official name of the cove is China Basin. Items 06-12 were photographed from the China Basin Park area,
located across from the ballpark on the other side of Lefty O'Doul Bridge, showing the ballpark in the background. Items 13-17
were photographed from the walkway located outside the ballpark.
