Biography

Ruth H. Miles was born on March 24, 1893, in Sacramento, California, to Hiram and Sarah Miles, who had immigrated from England in 1884. She attended Capital Primary School and Harkness Grammar School in Sacramento, California. Ruth worked as a bookkeeper for Keating's grocery store in 1915 and then for many years as a stenographer for the California State Highway Department.

Scope and Content Note

This small collection consists of 4th and 5th grade reports cards for Ruth Miles from Capital Primary School (1902-1903), and an autograph book with signatures from teachers and classmates in Ruth's ninth grade class at Harkness Grammar School (1907-1908).
