This collection contains the papers of Fred H. Miller Lewis. He wrote his family about his life in California throughout the
Gold rush era and afterwards into the 1860's. The file also include a large folded certificate regarding his death presented
by the Freemasons. The folder also contains three separate folders all of which contains letters and correspondence.

Rush era and afterwards into the 1860s.
These are the papers of Mr. Fred H. Miller Lewis. He wrote to his family about his life in California throughout the Gold
Rush era and afterwards into the 1860s. There is a certificate about his death by the Freemasons. Mr Miller was a special
agent for Wells Fargo and Co and many of the letters are written from San Francisco and the majority of the later letters
were addressed from "Walla Walla Washington Territory". The bulk of the letters are in good condition and the hand writting
is clear and legible.
