Background
The University of Southern California School of Medicine was established in 1885. In 1950, the University purchased a twelve-acre
site next to the Los Angeles County Hospital, USC's medical teaching hospital, to create a campus for the School of Medicine
and for a medical center. In 1999, the school was named the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California.
The Health Sciences Campus (HSC) is now the primary location for multiple entities including the Keck School of Medicine,
the Keck Medical Center of USC, the Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the Los Angeles County + USC Medical Center, and
its community includes students, faculty, staff, patients, and scientists.
