    Scope and Contents

    This collection contains more than 600 Shellac 78 rpm discs for a variety of American music representing the confluence of popular and jazz-adjacent genres typical of the developing music industry from the first half of the 20th century. Among the styles represented include American Popular Song, Big Band Music, Blues, Classical Music, Dance Music, Dixieland, Easy Listening, Foxtrot, Opera, Polka, Rhythm & Blues, Swing Music, Tin Pan Alley, Torch Songs, and Waltz. The origins of this collection are unknown. There is an item level listing of the records in Boxes 1-6 only. The records do not appear to be in a discernible order.
