Description
This collection contains materials collected and created by lesbian feminist, Mildred “Mid” Inman, founder of the group Single Women Over 40 (S.W.O.F.). Inman (1913-1999) founded several women’s groups in the U.S. and Canada. A professional dietician, Inman designed the first in-flight meals for United Airlines, supervised hundreds of chefs for the Western Hotels, was a food editor for “McCalls” magazine, and worked as a school cafeteria supervisor for the San Francisco Unified School District. She was also “an enthusiastic reader, walker, traveler, music and theater buff.”
