Hammond (Margaret Mary and Joan) Collection. Archives of the Archdiocese of San Francisco
Scope and Content of Collection
The collection consists of student memorabilia, photographs, and home movies from Margaret Mary and Joan Hammond, twin sisters
who attended Notre Dame des Victoires School in San Francisco and Saint Catherine Grammar and Mercy High schools in Burlingame.
Photographs in the collection document their school life and activities, and one set features a former classmate as a Sister
of Saint Joseph of Orange on missionary work in Papua New Guinea from 1948 to 1951. Also included in the collection is a selection
of home movies taken by Margaret Mary that capture scenes reflective of Bay Area Catholic life, including the installation
of the Saint Francis statue at Saint Francis of Assisi Church in San Francisco.
