Scope and Content of Collection

A small and incomplete collection of sound recordings of Scripps Institution of Oceanography faculty inaugural lectures. All recordings are on audiocassette, are approximately one hour in length, and are arranged in alphabetical order by presentor.

Historical Background

Since the 1980s, the Scripps Institution of Oceanography Special Events Office has organized a faculty inaugural lecture series. Though the recordings have not been consistantly collected over time, the Library holds a selection of recordings dating from the mid-1980s to 2005 donated by individual lecturers.
