Description
Record Series 676 contains student and alumnus memorabilia of William Coit Ackerman (UCLA 1924). Materials include awards, photographs, plaques, and certificates.
Background
William (Bill) Coit Ackerman became a student at UCLA in 1919. During his sophomore year he began coaching the UCLA men's tennis team, retaining the position of coach until 1950. Ackerman also served as Associated Students of UCLA (ASUCLA) graduate student manager (until his retirement in 1967), athletic director, and charter member of the UCLA Athletic Hall of Fame. In 1947 he was awarded Alumnus of the Year recognition, and in 1984 he was inducted into the College Tennis Hall of Fame.
