    Materials in the collection were donated to California State Polytechnic University, Pomona by the Pomona Fairplex in 2001 and gathered from Special Collections' Southern California Wine and Wine Industry Collection files.

    Biographical / Historical

    The Los Angeles County Fair wine judging competition is the nation's oldest county fair event of its kind. The competition was first held in 1935 but it went on hiatus during World War II. It has now taken place every year since 1948. The event is currently named the Los Angeles International Wine Competition. It has previously been called the Wines of the Americas competition and the Wines of the World competition.

    Scope and Contents

    The collection contains materials relating to the Los Angeles County Fair wine judging competition. Materials include informational packets about the competition, books that list the award-winning wines, clippings about the event, a bottle of award-winning wine, wine glasses, and prize ribbons. Most of the materials are from when the competition was called Wines of the Americas.

    The collection is arranged alphabetically by folder title.
