Scope and Content

A pair of disbound scrapbooks containing eighty-one pasted and laid in ephemeral items, photographs, negatives, postcards, brochures and city nightlife guides. All of the material relates to swing bands (territory dance bands) directed by Chic McFarlan in Omaha, Nebraska, and Kansas City, Missouri, between 1936 and 1949. Includes items related to his 1930s ensemble "Chic McFarlan and his Collegians" based in Omaha, as well as many items related to "Chic McFarlan's Orchestra" and "Chic McFarlan's Band" based in Kansas City in the 1940s.
