Description
Photograph album containing 52 snapshots of streeets and buildings in San Francisco, following the earthquake and fire of April 18, 1906.
Extent
1 albums (52 photographic prints) : b&w ; 18 x 29 cm (album) Photographs are mounted on rectos of first 27 leaves of heavy black paper; 50 small photographs (12 x 10 cm) are mounted two to a page; the 2 larger photographs (13 x 18 cm) are mounted individually on leaves [26] and [27]; last 23 leaves of album are blank. Bound in thin black cloth covers, secured along left edges with black silk cord threaded through two pairs of grommets; gold-stamped cover title "Photographs;" manufacturer's label on back pastedown of the Ideal Specialty Company of Chicago and New York. Spec. Coll. copy: illustrated bookplate on front pastedown of Edward A. Dickson. In modern beige cloth-covered clamshell box, with spine label "San Francisco earthquake and fire."
