Department at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo including the records of Professor Virginia Walter former Interim Head of Environmental
Horticultural Science (retired); the records of the Pi Alpha Xi honorary society Upsilon Chapter at Cal Poly; the Floral Design
Team; program planning and activities; and curriculum and course content.
Background
The Environmental and Crop Science Department is a department within the College of Agriculture, Food, and Environmental Sciences
(CAFES). Environmental Horticultural Science (formerly Ornamental Horticulture) and Crop Science merged in 2002 to strengthen
the curriculum and prepare students to enter the Plant Agriculture Industry. The department specializes in the three primary
areas: Environmental Horticultural Science, Fruit and Crop Science, and Plant Protection Science.
