Scope and Contents

This series contains 49 letters from Pvt. Francis J. "Frank" Greechan to his parents, Daniel and Margaret Greechan in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Greechan first served at the end of the Second World War and then served again in the Korean War. He describes life in service, training, guard duty, target practice, and social activities. He writes that he misses his parents and life in Allentown very much. In the spring of 1947, Greechan spent time in a hospital in Pusan for kidney trouble.

This series contains ephemeral materials from Greechan's time in service. Items are three miniature discharge papers, a pamphlet about the US Army transport ship "General Simon B. Buckner," a handout including an illustration of the Buckner and a list of points of interest in San Francisco Bay, and a letter from the commander of the Buckner to all soldiers on board.
