Description
This collection contains 30 letters written to Yuki Akaki to his sister, Miss Hatsume Akaki, while he was serving with the
522nd Field Artillery Battalion in World War II. There are also photographs of his time serving in Japan and Italy.
Background
Yuki Akaki was born in 1922 and joined the 522nd Field Artillery Battalion after being incarcerated at Granada Concentration
Camp in Colorado. He fought in Italy before returning to the US. He passed away in 1999.
