This collection of photographs documents the early
California life of members of the the Trafton and Crane families. The collection includes one letter from Alice E. Crane to
her sister Emma Crane Trafton of Davisville, California as well as photographs portraying farm life and members of the
Trafton and Crane families.
The Trafton-Crane family emigrated to California from Rhode Island in the early 1870s. The family settled in Davisville
(later Davis); other Trafton relatives settled in the Watsonville area of Santa Cruz County.
All applicable copyrights for the collection are protected under chapter 17 of the U.S. Copyright Code. Requests for
permission to publish or quote from manuscripts must be submitted in writing to the Head of Special Collections. Permission
for publication is given on behalf of the Regents of the University of California as the owner of the physical items. It is
not intended to include or imply permission of the copyright holder, which must also be obtained by the researcher.
