Abstract: The Hirstel Family Collection consists of a photo album which contains snapshots taken while the Hirstel family was on vacation, primarily of camp grounds and other outdoor locations in California, Washington, and Oregon; correspondence exchanged between Harold Hirstel and his parents; and loose photographs. It includes photographs of various locations including Lagunitas; Bear Valley; Phoenix Lake; a YMCA camp; Strawberry Lake; numerous spots in Yosemite including Half Dome, Bridal Veil Falls, Glacier Point, Mirror Lake, Hetch Hetchy Lake, El Capitan, and the "Wawona Tree"; several Boy Scout camps, Muir Woods, Multnomah Falls, Mount St. Helens, and others. Additionally, the album contains snapshots taken of the Tamalpais Conservation Club, as well as a few postcards, ticket stubs, and other pieces of ephemera.
