This collection contains official records and reports of the Sonoma County Superintendent of Schools and the Sonoma County Board of Education, including records of the Board of Examination, and the Trustees of Common Schools. Includes record primarily concerning matters such as teacher registrations, certification, training, student examination results and diplomas, etc. Also includes meeting minutes.

1882-1880: The role of Sonoma County Superintendent of Schools was established as part of the Office of County Assessor in 1852; the chief fiscal officer held the title, "Assessor and Superintendent of Schools."
