Scope and Content of Collection

Letter-press book (bound journal) of letters written by Dr. Lucius A. Wright in his capacity as the United States Agent of Indian Affairs for all the Mission Indians of Southern California. The letters document the events, the historical geography of the region, and the relationship between the Southern California Mission Indians, the Indian Agent, and the Department of Indian Affairs in Washington, D.C. A photocopied set of the letters is included for preservation/handling purposes (the letterpress book is delicate due to the thinness of the pages).
