Abstract: The Bard family played an important part in the development of Ventura County, particularly Port Hueneme. The family also established Quimichis Colony in Mexico, which involved acquiring 75,000 acres of land in western Mexico between Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta. The company grew bananas, sugar cane, pineapple, corn, and other agricultural products. Richard Bard, son of Thomas R. Bard, served as president of Quimichis. This collection includes four ledgers documenting accounts for Quimichis Colony, maps of plans for land development, and stock certificates.

The family established Quimichis Colony, which involved acquiring 75,000 acres of land in western Mexico between Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta. The firm grew bananas, sugar cane, pineapple, corn, and other agricultural products. Richard Bard, son of Thomas R. Bard, served as president of the company.
