Photographic prints and greetings cards documenting the travels, personal life, extended family, friends, and civic activities
of Ron Emler during the 1990s . He was a long-time partner of Joseph Carrier and a Redondo Beach School District teacher and
counselor.
Background
Ron Emler was born in West Virginia in 1940. He met Joseph Carrier in Pacific Palisades in the summer of 1963. They became
life-long friends and partners for over 40 years, but they never lived together. Emler worked as a teacher and counselor in
the Redondo Beach School District. In his Los Angeles neighborhood, Elmer was civically active founding the Echo Park Security
Association and the Echo Park Improvement Association. The Echo Park Historical Society created the Ron Emler Memorial Book
Program in his memory. Emler died in March 2005 from Hepatitis C.
