Description
This collection contains correspondence from Cpl. Lloyd M. Seibert, AEF to his wife during the First World War. Also included are one unit newspaper and one promotion certificate.
Background
Corporal Lloyd Miller Seibert, American Expeditionary Force (4/28/1895 - 2/20/1959) was born in Jacksonville, Morgan County, Illinois. He registered for the draft June 5, 1917 and married Rhoda Grace "Pat" Wheeler on December 5, 1917. He served during the war in France with Company A, 313th Engineers. According to the donor, Cpl. Seibert lived in Louisian, Missouri before and after returning from the war, though the address on the envelopes show that he and his wife were in Jacksonvill, IL. In Missouri, he worked for Stark Brothers Nursery and they moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma in the mid-1930s where he established his own wholesale florist business. He operated that business until his death in 1959. He is buried in Rosehill Cemetary in Tulsa.
