    Biographical / Historical

Kate Rennie Archer (1863-1960?) was a contemporary poet and poetry teacher in the San Francisco Bay area. She was born in Glasgow and spent much of her youth traveling around Europe with her family. In 1912 she married Douglas Archer, a Scottish Royal Horse Artillery Captain; they had one son named Douglas. Kate Archer was a teacher and a nurse for the Red Cross during World War I. The family moved to California in 1927. She began writing poetry at an early age and published several volumes of poetry.
