Description
This collection consits of approximately 60 letters, V-mail, and invitations from Corporal A. (Alger) E. Brown during his time in World War Two to M. J.(Mary Jane) Fishbaugh.
Background
Corporal Alger E. Brown was born in 1920 and lived in Michigan before enlisting in the army in October 1942. Brown was a Corporal for the United States Navy and his letters from 1944 to 1945 state that he was in New Guinea, the Dutch East Indies (Indonesia), and the Moluccas Islands. His letters are addressed to M. J. (Mary Jane) Fishbaugh, who was born in Ohio in 1920. Following the end of the war, Corporal Brown and Mary Jane got married in February 1946.
