Contains correspondence, manuscripts, grant proposals, travel files, and course materials relating to Professor Calvin's teaching and research at the University of California, Berkeley and the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Also includes materials regarding Calvin's service on U.S. government advisory boards including the Office of Science and Technology (OST), the President's Science Advisory Committee (PSAC), and the Energy Research Advisory Board (ERAB) of the U.S. Department of Energy.
Background
Professor of Chemistry at the University of California, Berkeley and Director of the bio-organic chemistry group at the Lawrence Radiation National Laboratory. Professor Calvin received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1961 for identifying the path of carbon in photosynthesis.
