Description
Typewritten program of Admission of California into the Union. Program includes the names of the people that participated in the celebration that occurred on October 29, 1850 in San Francisco. Included 7 divisions of people, fireworks, arms fired, and other various activities on Montgomery Street. First page of program has a detailed pen drawing of a bear in front of a campfire and the title is hand-drawn calligraphy.
Background
California was admitted to the Union as the 31st state on September 9, 1850. A celebration for this event was held in San Francisco on October 29, 1850. Colonel Jonathan Stevenson was the Grand Marshal of the event.
