Background
Jean L. Rosenfeld, who is the source of this collection, was born in 1922 in Los Angeles, CA. She attended Stanford University
and, in the 1960s, returned to Los Angeles to attend UCLA, receiving a Master's in Library Science from UCLA. She worked as
a children's librarian and with the bookmobile for the LA Public Library, downtown branch. For multiple years, she was part
of the Sierra Club Foundation's Rachel Carson Society, an honor that recognizes individuals who make a commitment to the environment
by including the Sierra Club Foundation or the Sierra Club in their estate plans. It is unknown whether Rosenfeld created
the images in this collection – there is no mention of who the creator is in her original donation letter.
