    Content Description

This collection contains two correspondence from 1st Sgt. Donald H. Miller, USAAF to his mother and his wife Martha after the Second World War. The first letter, dated August 12, 1945 was written "near Manila," Philippines and discusses the "news in the last 48 hours," presumably referring to the bombing of Nagasaki, Japan on August 9. He says it sounds pretty good and "we are all waiting patiently now for the Japs reply to our last ultimatum."
The second letter, dated July 8, 1947, is a note telling his wife that she has been added to the list of spouses that can join their husbands overseas, while he is stationed in Manila, Philippines. He discusses with her the arrangements, things she will need, and possible travel arrangements with the wife of Captain Raymond A. Seibert of Kyle, Texas who is also coming out. The letter is addressed to Martha in Nacogdoches and he says they are not too far from each other.
