Description
This collection contains two correspondence from 1st Sgt. Donald H. Miller, USAAF to his mother and his wife Martha after the Second World War.
Background
First Sergeant Donald H. Miller, United States Army Air Force comes from a city called Holstein, according to the donor, and upon graduation joined the Army and traveled by convoy through Arkansas and Texas went to Camp Roberts, California, eventually making his way to the Philippines. Additional information and letters were lost when the family moved from Santa Clara, California to Nacogdoches, Texas, the hometown of 1stSgt. Miller's wife, Martha R. Miller. Mentioned in the letters is a daughter, "B.Ann." This is Barbara Ann, born July 25, 1943. Her and her mother returned from the Philippines on April 14, 1949 aboard the USAT "General C.G. Morton" (passenger manifest, ancestry.com).
