Abstract: This file contains the first of four diaries of Robert B. Bartlett. He wrote in this diary from March 1850 to March 1851.
It tells of his time living in Kingston, Massachusetts. He talks about his family, the weather, and his daily life in Massachusetts.
The journal is in good condition with the binding remaining intact, and the hand writing is clear and legible throughout.

This Diary is the first of four diaries covering the total period from March 16, 1850 to November 1856. This Diary commences
on his 18th birthday and ends exactly on year later. Bartlett says at the beginning that his purpose is to "give a brieif
account of the weather and scrapes that I may chance to get into, and an account of all the moneys expended by me." Aside
from a two week period on a fishing boat on the Grand Banks, the entire diary is set in Kingson, MA. It is comprised of brief
daily entries describing the weather and his activities during that day. Very little of significance happens during the year.
