Biography
Lou Fackler founding campus engineer at UC Santa Cruz, was interviewed and hired by
Founding Chancellor Dean McHenry. He was the campus's eleventh employee and began
work in January of 1963.
Scope and Content of Collection
This collection includes five scrapbooks, loose materials and photographs documenting
the very early years of UC Santa Cruz campus planning and construction. Also
included are 35mm films of campus construction and events taken by Fackler.

Scope and Content Summary
This series includes five scrapbooks & ten folders of loose materials
assembled by Louis Fackler from the start of his employement with the
University of California, Santa Cruz until his retirement in 1992. Included
in the scrapbooks are news clippings, cards, letters, photographs all
documenting the very early campus planning and development
PDF files of all the clippings in Albums 1-4 [Boxes 1-4] can be found under
"Additional Collection Guides".
