Acquisition Information

SAFR-01732

The collection was donated by San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park employee Erik Olson in 2000 and was formally accessioned into the Park's collection in 2002. The photographs were given to Olson by a volunteer who salvaged them from a dumpster at the Longshoremen's Union Hall in San Francisco, California.

Historical or Biographical Note

Thomas "Tom" George King Jr. was born in Seattle, Washington. After serving in the U.S. Navy from 1941-1945, King opened his own photography business in San Francisco, California. He had residences in both San Francisco and Capitola, California. He was married to Joan Marin King.

There is a large tear near the center of the print and a small tear on the bottom edge, left. Corners are damaged and there is a crease at the center of the left edge.
