    Gift of Bette Jameson, grand-daughter of Engineer Milsap, in 2005.

    Biography/Administrative History

    President McKinley took a nation-wide tour of the United States aboard a train in 1901. He travelled on his private car which was attached to a new locomotive whenever he switched railroads. His trip was cut short in May, due to the poor health of Mrs. McKinley.

    Scope and Content of Collection

    Letter to J. Dietrich from Southern Pacific Company Master Mechanic containing details of crew and equipment used on President McKinley's train from Redlands Junction to Redlands. Engineer Milsap was assigned to the run, and crew were instructed on their appearance and the decorating of engine 2922.
