    Biography/Administrative History

    Richard Roesener was born and raised in Kokomo, Indiana. He moved to San Francisco in 1977 from Chicago, where he was chief scientific illustrator at the Field Museum of Natural History. He was a lead twirler for the San Francisco Gay Freedom Day Marching Band and Twirling Corps for several years before he died in 1985.

    Scope and Content of Collection

    Black and white and color photographs include images of nudes, human-animal studies, Gay Games I, the San Francisco Gay Freedom Day Marching Band and Twirling Corps, S.F. Pride marches, cowboys, erotica. Also includes a small number of line drawings and watercolors.
