Abstract: Robert Chauncey Frazee, Republican, was a State Assembly Member, 1979-1994. The Robert C. Frazee Papers consist of Bill Files,
1979-1994, which document his legislative activity during his term as an Assemblymember of the California State Legislature.
He authored numerous bills concerning topics such as historic preservation of buildings (AB3037, 1991-1992), senior citizen
housing (AB1429, 1989-1990), and parental consent for abortions (AB1987-1988). However, his primary interest was local government
and small business: AB549 (1979-1980) Board of Supervisors, Lighting Districts; AB630 (1981-1982) Local Agencies, Assessments;
AB1235 (1983-1984) Land Use Decisions; AB2431 (1989-1990) Hazardous Waste Sites; and AB3360 (1993-1994) Joint Powers Agreements.

Acquisition and Custodial History
The California State Archives acquired the Robert Frazee Papers following his final term in the State Legislature.
Robert Chauncey Frazee, Republican, was a State Assembly Member, 1979-1994. His 76th District included Oceanside, La Jolla,
Escondido, and Carlsbad within San Diego County. Following redistricting in 1982, he represented the 74th District which now
included cities such as Del Mar, San Marcos, and Vista.
He was born on September 1, 1928 in San Luis Rey, California. A lifelong resident of Southern California, he attended Oceanside
public schools before serving in the U.S. Marine Corps (1950-1952). He was a former President and General Manager of Frazee
Flowers, Inc., a family business specializing in cut flowers. He married Dolores Hedrick in 1951; they had two daughters,
Susan Marie and Nancy Anne. Frazee died of a heart attack on January 24, 2009.
Frazee was an active member of his community. He was the director and vice president of the San Diego County Farm Bureau;
a board member of the League of California Cities; and a member of the Society of American Florists, the El Camino Real Rotary
Club, the Boys Club, the YMCA, the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce, and the Carlsbad Union Church.
Frazee was elected to the Carlsbad City Council in 1972 and became the city's mayor in 1974. He served as chairman of the
San Diego Coast Regional Commission as well as the North San Diego County Transit District. He also sat on the board of directors
of the Comprehensive Planning Organization of San Diego County.
Frazee was elected to the State Assembly in 1978. He served as chair of the Republican Caucus from 1989 to 1990, considered
the "Number 2 Republican job in the Assembly" (Who's Who in the California Legislature, 1993).
