Wtih the opening of the Public Library and Art Gallery in 1930, the Palos Verdes Library District Board of Trustees created
a committee called the Committee on Art Exhibits and Art Functions to take charge of art exhibits and other art functions
in the new gallery. Members of the Committee included community members and Librarian Agnes McMillan who acted as the Secretary.
One of the first projects of the Committee was the opening reception and the first purchase prize.
