Collection Scope and Content

Pacific Far East Line, Inc. records (SAFR 18803, HDC 462) contains correspondence, records and plans relating to the building of C-8 container ships for Pacific Far East Line for the years 1967 to 1976. This collection has been processed and is open for use without restriction.
These container ships used pilgrim nut-fitted rudders. The correspondence is between Pacific Far East Line and M.J. Gigy & Associates regarding the pilgrim propeller nut needed for the ships being built, and prices. Miscellaneous papers give information on the pilgrim propeller nuts. The collection includes an instruction book for pilgrim propeller nuts by Marine Products & Engineering Co. and a book titled Specifications for Single Screw Lash Cargo Vessels Turbine Propulsion for Pacific Far East Line, Inc.
